GdayX Reaction paper

GdayX focused on advertising Google websites and how to use them. It was very fun for the participants because of the things that they had learned and because of the prizes that were given in the event and also free food. The event will be able to help a lot of people for their businesses, to help during the calamities, and also for blogging. During the event, I was able to attend three workshops. First of the workshops I attended was the one with Fleire Castro. She talked about the use of Google Mapping for Crises.

Miss Castro showed us pictures of what the Typhoon Sendong has done a year ago. It was very devastating, there were floods, a lot of razed buildings, and people begging for help. She said, Google Mapping will be able to help those people. Those people who wanted to help, they can have a helping center and place it on the Google map. Through Google Map, people can see where those helping centers are. It is not just for the casualties, it can also be used for the volunteers of the typhoon for them to find the center they can assist.

Next one was with Jr Padilla. He talked about Google Maps for Business and also the Development of Google Maps. Google map has undergone a lot of innovations before it has become the way it is now. It was just a normal map before, but now, map users can view famous cities in street view, where people can see a place like they are on the place themselves.

Google map is a very useful tool for business nowadays. Using it, entrepreneurs can inform people about their businesses and on how people can approach them. Business persons can easily go to their respective clients easily and efficiently. One of the examples for this is the delivery service. By using google map, the deliverer will know easily the place he will be heading to without getting lost and late for the delivery.

The last workshop was the one with Fitz Villafuerte about the use of blogging on businesses. He told that blogging is more of an advertisement for the business of the entrepreneur. It is because, people oftenly use the internet for limitless purposes, and one of them is blogging, and the entrepreneur can take advantage of that to advertise their product or business. In blogging, they should use appropriate advertisements and styles for the blog to work efficiently, or to attract a lot of customers.

The whole workshop was very fun and worth it, especially to the business men. They could get a lot of tips on the speakers on how to get a lot of customers or to advertise their business. It goes to show that the internet has a lot of usage, specifically the Google sites. It can be used as an aid during calamities or for business purposes.

GOOGLE- now that’s one and a hundred zeroes! The Google Business Group Community recently held the Gdayx Philippines, an event especially made for business-related people. I was lucky enough to witness this seminar, especially because I am a business student so this event definitely helped me in advance.

Aside from the free food, the thing I liked a lot about it is that the topics are very timely. There was this talk about how google played an important role in crisis mapping and disaster relief. It gave me information on how they did it and how I must do it especially now that our countrymen need help because of the Yolanda tragedy. 

Indeed google has dominated not only the world but also the entire universe through its Google Moon and Google Mars! This is amazing because it just showed that Google is not just about the internet. It expanded from just being a search engine to being able to go to different planets and elements of the universe.

As I have said a while ago, I am a business student so this event definitely helped me be aware of the technology businessmen use today. Another thing good about this event is that it can be advantageous to any age. Definitely to the elderly it helped them be advanced and adapt to the generation today. To me, it helped me to think of the many ways to use different technologies offered by google.

Google is not just created for us to have fun with computer. Google proved that through the use of technology we can help other people and discover other things. Who knows? We might have neighbors waiting for us in the other side of the universe.

On November 23, 2013, a Saturday, Google had held a lecture about the importance of Google and other related website. The speaker explained further how our lives can be easier and more comfortable if we all could use Google, Youtube, and other sites that could help us connect to other people.

Before, I really thought that these websites are just for entertainment and for other purposes like searching for answers or when looking for information.  But Google can do more, the latest technology developed by Google the previous year, the Google Drive, can help you store files and store information. Youtube on the other hand cannot only share videos like music videos, online tutorials, documented videos but it can also help you promote your business by creating your own Youtube Channel. There you can share advertisements about your business. The speaker also said that many people does not consider Youtube a social networking site but for the record, it is. It is because you can communicate to other people who are watching your video. Communicating in a sense that the viewers can like and share the video you have uploaded. The speaker also introduced to us how a blog can help us promote our business also. You can share a video there and you can put some description. All in all, ideas presented by Google were really helpful.

Even though it gives us many benefits, it is also very disadvantageous in a way that there still many people are not participating online.

About a hundred of people were already sitting and listening intently to the speaker in the podium as I slip quietly and sink into my chair. The event was about Google and the Digital World and I have learned more interesting things about it. The worldwide web as I know it is a place to search for quick facts, to watch for the latest music videos, and to stalk someone. But I yet to find out other feature google or internet as a whole have to offer.

The first talk was about Digital Collaboration/Google Drive by Therence John Resabal.  His talk was interactive and in-depth because of the fact he is studying Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and a Google Student Ambassador. It is a helpful tool in sharing files to others. It is easy to utilize and very efficient way of uploading files and documents and sharing it to others. The second was Growing Your Business with Youtube by Trixie Canivel. There are many advantages of using Youtube to advertise businesses, large and small alike. It is a good way to attract potential customers and keep them engaged. Just a few clicks and you can easily upload a video. Third talk was Podcasting and Blogging by Kring Elenzano. She has been a media practitioner since 2005 and though trained extensively in TV, online and events production. She has two blogs, funnysexy.ph and mykoreanboyfirend.com. These are websites where one can express deeply personal thoughts and at the same time, a site where one could write something about business.

The google event was fun and informative. It opened our eyes to many facets of Google and the Digital World. As described in their official blog aims to connect, inform and inspire business owners, entrepreneurs and business students on the latest business technologies." I would give the organizers and staff of the event a round of applause plus standing ovation for a very successful GdaysX Philippines. Good job, guys!

Reaction Paper for GDaysX Event

            The GDaysX event happened last November 23. The talks that I witnessed where the first three talks and I witnessed the first few minutes of the fourth talk. They were about Keynote, Google for entrepreneurs, Communication tools for business, Google drive and Youtube for your business.

            I felt like I learned a lot from the talks because even if I knew some of what they were talking about beforehand, I still learned something new on how some of those programs work and who uses those programs and how and when to use them. Like for example, in Google Drive, I know how to use the program but I didn’t know that you could allow someone to edit your file that you put there as long as you change some settings. I also learned that in Google, you can have a group conversation so that if you have meetings you don’t have to go to the office to have it.

            I was also really amazed at the examples they showed because during the talk on Keynote, Ms. Gail showed a video with different people from all over the world singing one song. It was so amazing how the video looked like they planned it but in fact they didn’t really meet at all. The example about the people having a meeting online was also great because I felt that it really showed how Google made it so easy to have a meeting without having to go to the office.

            I was also surprised at the facts and statistics they showed. I really saw how many people actually use Google for their business and how safe it was to use. Mr. Herald’s examples of big companies and even governments use Google so I thought that it was really safe since those companies and governments wouldn’t put themselves or their clients at risk.

            The talk on Google Drive was the one that really got my interest because I am kind of new to using that so I sometimes get lost whenever I use it to upload some papers for my class now but after the talk, I really learned so much about it that I’m now more confident about using it. I’m not so confused about some of its functions now.

            I really enjoyed the event even if I’m not a business major I feel like I could still make use of what I’ve learned because even if they talked about how you can use it for your business, I think that I could also use it in my studies because they’re useful and safe to use.
